What’s Included in Your Scuba Course

Pool Training & Skill Development

Your training begins in a controlled pool environment where instructors demonstrate each required skill before guiding you through hands-on practice and evaluation.

• Swim test and skill assessment
• Step-by-step instructor demonstrations
• Student skill performance evaluation
• Optional second pool session if needed
• Minimum 2 full days required in Key Largo

Most students complete pool training on day one. If additional practice is needed, a second session is provided on day two to ensure full confidence before ocean dives.

If you complete all skills early, you may have free time on day two before your afternoon boat trip.

Open Water Checkout Dives

You will complete 4 open water checkout dives over 2 afternoons on the beautiful reefs of Key Largo under direct instructor supervision.

During these dives, you will:

• Demonstrate skills learned in the pool in real ocean conditions
• Build confidence and comfort underwater
• Train in real reef environments

If weather conditions prevent offshore trips, alternative training options may include:

• Rescheduling to a better weather day
• Canal or marina-based training near the dock
• Lagoon or basin training at Rowells Park

The only condition that prevents in-water training is lightning.

All required scuba gear is included in your course:

Important Requirements

All students must:

• Submit a PADI Student Medical Release Form at check-in
• Pass a required swim test:
• Swim 200 meters continuously (no stopping, no flotation device)
• Complete a 10-minute survival float or tread water test

Failure to meet medical or swim requirements may prevent course participation. In such cases, no refunds are issued, but alternative options such as snorkeling or alternate scheduling may be offered based on availability.
