This one-day program is perfect for vacationers, first-time divers, or anyone curious about scuba diving without committing to a full certification course.
In just one day, you’ll go from learning the basics in a controlled environment to exploring the vibrant coral reefs of the Florida Keys with a professional instructor by your side.
Scuba diving may feel unfamiliar at first, but after a short adjustment period, most participants quickly gain confidence and discover just how easy and exciting it can be. Many first-time divers find the hardest part isn’t getting into the water—it’s leaving it!
What Your Day Looks Like
Your Discover Scuba experience is structured for safety, comfort, and maximum enjoyment:
Morning Check-In & Classroom Session
- Check-in begins at 7:30 AM at the dive center
- Staff will verify paperwork, waivers, and introduce you to your instructor
- Short classroom session covering basic scuba concepts and safety
Pool Training Session
- Head to the nearby pool for 2 to 2.5 hours of hands-on training
- Complete a basic swim test to confirm water comfort and safety readiness
- Learn essential scuba skills including:
- Breathing underwater
- Mask clearing
- Regulator recovery
- Buoyancy and hovering techniques
Lunch Break
- Enjoy a 60–90 minute break after your pool session
- Time to relax and prepare for your ocean dives
Afternoon Boat & Reef Dives
- Boarding begins around 12:30–12:45 PM
- Boat departs at 1:00 PM
- Visit two different reef dive sites from over 100 locations in Key Largo
With your instructor, you’ll complete:
- 2 guided ocean dives
- Dive times typically range 25–55 minutes per dive
- Maximum depth: under 40 feet (typically 20–35 feet)
Enjoy the ride back with:
- Ocean views and relaxation
- Possible dolphin sightings
- Photos with your group
Return to the dock around 4:30–5:30 PM.

Requirements
- Minimum age: 10 years old
- Must complete a Student Medical QuestionnaireIf any answers require medical evaluation, clearance must be obtained before arrival
- Must pass a basic swim test during the pool session
Participants must bring:
- Swimsuit
- Towel
- Food, snacks, and drinks as desired
Student-to-Instructor Ratios
- Pool session: up to 8 students per instructor
- Open water dives: maximum 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio
This ensures personalized attention and a safe learning environment.
Additional Information
- Course available 7 days a week (weather and availability permitting)
- Gratuities for instructors and boat crew are customary and appreciated
- Students receive a 15% discount on retail merchandise in the dive shop
