The story of Sea Dwellers Dive Center is inextricably linked to the early days of recreational diving in the United States. Founded over 50 years ago, our center was established during a time when the Florida Keys were just beginning to be recognized as a world-class destination for underwater exploration. The founders chose this specific stretch of the archipelago because of its immediate proximity to the only living coral barrier reef in North America. They envisioned a place where the barrier between the land and the sea could be crossed with ease and professionalism. Starting as a modest operation fueled by a passion for the Atlantic’s hidden wonders, we have grown into a landmark institution in the community, maintaining our original mission to share the beauty of the National Marine Sanctuary with the world.

Five decades in Key Largo means our crew has spent years learning these waters firsthand. We know that conditions can change from day to day, and that choosing a dive site isn't simply about following a list of coordinates.

Our crew considers factors such as weather, water conditions, experience levels, and what divers are hoping to see when planning each day's trips. Depending on the site and conditions, Key Largo offers opportunities to explore coral reefs, legendary shipwrecks, and marine life throughout the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.

We also know that every diver arrives with a different level of experience. Whether you're newly certified, returning to diving after some time away, completing a certification, or an experienced diver looking for your next reef or wreck, our goal is to help you feel prepared and comfortable throughout the experience.

A Safe, Relaxed Dive Experience

We believe diving should feel professional without feeling intimidating. Our crew takes safety seriously while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming.

For divers who want additional support, our expert instructors and divemasters are available to provide guided experiences for an additional fee. They can help with navigation, finding marine life, managing the dive, and providing additional assistance based on your needs.

We also offer 65-minute pool-open windows at each dive location, giving divers more flexibility to prepare and enjoy their dive. Actual dive time varies depending on preparation, air consumption, dive profile, and conditions.
