Scuba Diving & Photography in Key Largo – Specialty
Underwater photography is one of the most popular diving specialties, and with so many underwater cameras to choose from, it has become easier and more fun than ever to capture images of your underwater scuba adventures in the beautiful waters of the Florida Keys. Whatever your level of interest in photography, Sea Dwellers Dive Center of Key Largo offers a flexible program of photographic instruction based on the particular aspects of taking photographs underwater.
“The Digital Underwater Photographer course gets you going quickly, whether you use a point-and-shoot camera or a sophisticated dslr like the pros.”
Sea Dwellers Dive Center’s program builds on the basics of the course to allow you to get the maximum benefit from your instruction. The course is tailored to suit the needs of the student; from the novice who’s just getting into underwater photography to the experienced dive photographer who wants to improve their skills by focusing on specific types of photograph or learn new techniques of post processing their images.
The basic Photography course takes a minimum of 2 & 1/2 days and includes classroom sessions and 4 scuba dives in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary to practice your skills.
Day 1 – The first class session focuses on understanding the camera system you are planning to use as well as getting a basic understanding of why and how underwater photography differs in many of the challenges it presents to the photographer. This will generally take up a full morning. In the afternoon, with your instructor, you will go scuba diving! Make two dives on some of Key Largo’s most scenic reefs. These dives will teach you how to use the camera in a way that protects both the camera and the fragile environment of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Our philosophy is to take only pictures and leave only bubbles!
Day 2 – The next day, you will go…scuba diving again! Make another two dives to improve on your pictures of the previous day (following a review by your photography instructor) and learn a little bit about macro photography. The final classroom session teaches you ways to process your image after you have taken it to improve its presentation. This instruction is based on demonstration the ways that Abode’s Lightroom and Photoshop products can be used to enhance your pictures as well as explaining the importance of developing a digital workflow and database for storing your images.
